Our Mission

One component of W A I T U is the Mentoring Program which serves young artists with recognized Dominican artists who will assist the student hone their craft, clarify direction, develop focused goals, and understand the full spectrum of the medium.
 
The program seeks to enhance a student’s skill, build confidence, develop self-awareness and provide overall support of their artistic endeavors by:
 
• Exposing the student to the historic practices, traditions, and culture of Dominican inspired art
• Providing insight of various art forms and creative expression
• Broadening the student’s perspective and understanding of art
• Assisting in career planning (for older students entering college)
• Providing advice and guidance in applying for colleges with accredited art programs
