About The Golf Club of Dallas

In late 1951, the founders of The Golf Club of Dallas commissioned Perry Maxwell and his son, Press Maxwell to design a preeminent championship course in the heart of Dallas. During 1952, design work was completed. Initial construction finished in 1953, and the club first opened its doors and greens. The Club hosted the Dallas Open from 1958 through 1967. The Dallas Open became the present day Byron Nelson Classic.
